With the opening of the new season we would like once again to draw members attention to a few key points. We do not have lifeguards and the pool area, although fenced, is still accessible so all members with children or child guests must be mindful of this when they are playing in the grounds. For Full and Country members using the pool, the adult member(s) must supervise their children when they are swimming. You are required to supervise carefully at the poolside so that you can monitor your child’s safety and make sure the pool rules are being adhered to. This applies to child members under the age of 16 and guests under 18. Safety information is sent to all members when they join or renew; the full pool rules can also be found on our website and on notices in the pool area. We would also like to ask that if you like to use a pop-up sun shade please place it against the hedge line so that they do not obstruct the view of the pool for all users. Pool Safety &Drinking and Dining 2019 St Julians Club Newsletter Pool Safety Dining and Drinking It was a busy winter season in the bar and restaurant and the weekday Table d’Hote menu was a great success. Look out for its return in the autumn. With the summer fast approaching, we look forward to you all being able to enjoy our gardens, beautiful view and relaxed atmosphere with alfresco dining. Our menu will feature its usual summery selection of light bites and salads, perfect for dining while soaking up the sun over lunch on the bar lawn. We continue to use our kitchen garden to supply homegrown produce on our daily menu with any surplus seasonal produce on sale to Club members over the summer months. We are proud to be able to offer you dishes with fresher flavours from the flowers, herbs, fruits, and vegetables growing only a few feet from the restaurant – you are welcome to wander up to the gardens to see where your food has come from! Our chefs design a weekend special menu available on Friday nights, Saturday lunch and Saturday nights to add to the menu for more formal dining. Enjoy this menu alongside our varied daily menu with a booked table or choose to enjoy informal dining in the bar or outside. We are happy to provide many of our dishes ‘takeaway’ on recyclable paper plates with wooden cutlery. Please note however that we do not serve food beyond the bar lawns and so if you are planning on dining poolside or near the sandpit, you will be asked to wait in the bar for your order. Weekends are fabulous at St Julians and we know that our members like to have family gatherings on Sundays: if you would like to book a larger table, say over 12, we can normally accommodate you later Sunday afternoon or early evening. We are excited to announce some changes to the wines we serve by the glass. These now include Ceppi Storici, Barbera d’Asti and Bourgogne Rouge Plantets, which already feature on our wine list. We have also added a delightful Chateau Tanesse 2010, Claret. We also have a delicious new prosecco - Prosecco la Vita Socali that has been specially sourced for us from Italy. With spring and summer firmly in mind we have updated our cocktails list. As well as a few classics: Pimms and lemonade, Aperol Spritz and Campari Negroni, we have added a ‘St Germain Royale’ which gives an elderflower punch to a glass of prosecco. Look out for the return of the Greensand Ridge fabulous local Raspberry Ghost, an eau de vie which is perfectly paired with a Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic. We have increased our alcohol- free selection in the bar, with the addition of Seedlip Spice 94 non-alcoholic gin, as well as Bitburger and Peroni bottled non- alcoholic beers. Our bar staff are all barista trained and we update this regularly to maintain excellent standards for a delicious coffee. Many members may not know that the water at St Julians is filtered spring water from our own artesian well at the edge of the woods. We do not charge for our tasty still or sparkling water, nor do we sell bottled water, however there will be a water station by the bar throughout the summer months for your use.
